Nerella Venu Madhav (born 28 December 1932) popularly known as NV is a famous Mimic from India.[1][2] He is often regarded as the Father of Indian Mimicry.

Early life

Nerella Venu Madhav was born in a small village in Warangal district in Andhra Pradesh.

Career

Nerella Venu Madhav started his career in the year 1947 when he was 16 years old. He performs in English, Urdu, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. He brought respect to the mimicry art form all over the world. He has toured all over the world several times to not only to entertain telugus but also foreigners. He is the only mimic in the world who performed in the United Nations Organisation, New York.[3]

He has a wide range of imitations and has a vast breadth. He rose to popularity, coming from a village, imitating celebrities, politicians, local dialects, Nizams etc.

Among his students, popular ventriloquists like Mimicry Srinivos and Harikishen who were impressed by Venu Madhav, chose to nurture the craft. He will be celebrating his 80th birth day on 28th December 2011.His disciples are organising a mimicry festival on 28th December 2011 at Warangal. He was conferred Doctorate by Kakatiya University when Prof. Jaya Shankar was vice-chancellor of Kakatiya University.
